Workshops for Culture Night

In the week leading up to Culture Night on Friday 18^th September, a series of wonderful workshops were hosted in the garden area of Laois Arthouse, Stradbally,  subject to Covid-19 restrictions.  The workshops, facilitated by artists from the Laois Arthouse Collective were filmed and will be available to view online on Culture Night www.culturenight.ie. From 4pm-12am.  Artist Rebecca Deegan did a fantastic job filming and photographing both workshops.  Tune in to see these workshops in action.  Eco Printing with Angelina Foster generated a feeling of enthusiasm, energy and fun as a small group people created natural botanical art print on paper, using leaves and flowers from the local trees and plants in Stradbally.  Learning traditional dyeing skills and experimenting with different natural dyes and layouts on handmade paper, that captured the spirit of our lush Laois landscape

Earth Art workshops with Aishling Hennessy saw participants connect back to their roots and embrace the joy of creating art on wood.  Using earth inspired imagery or imaginative composition, participants painted onto beautiful discs of birch wood. These discs of wood were joined together to form a wonderful earth art instillation.   An exhibition of this work  and work by members of the Laois Arthouse Collective will be on display for visitors to view from 2pm -8pm at the Gallery at Laois Arthouse for Culture Night.
