Damaging winds will gradually ease in the northwest of the country over the coming hours, with gusty conditions accompanied by some scattered showers elsewhere. Heavy rain and strengthening winds will arrive from the southwest later tonight, with a risk of gusts in excess of 100km/h again in coastal areas of the southwest and west.
Tomorrow will be generally overcast and wet after a dry morning.
Winds will also be fresh to strong across the south and southeast of the country with gales along coasts. Elsewhere winds will be lighter. Local flooding is possible also due to the persistent and at times heavy nature of the rain.
Further updates to follow this evening…
