This weekend is expected to be dry and settled across the country with all areas enjoying some pleasant spells of sunshine and light winds. It will feel a little cooler than of late with some low night time temperatures making it feel somewhat autumnal. Apart from some light showers in the northeast of the country this morning the rest of the weekend will be dry throughout.
Next weeks wether looks a little more mixed however with rain spreading on Monday, followed in turn by a drier and sunnier Tuesday. More outbreaks of rain spread eastward on Wednesday with some lingering showery outbreaks of rain on Thursday. From Friday onwards, especially so on the ECMWF weather model, there are signs that high pressure to our west may develop across the country ensuring a more prolonged period of dry and settled weather as we end the first week of September.
Uncertainty remains in this forecast however as the GFS model instead indicates that winds will switch to a colder northwesterly direction with various low pressure systems speeding southeast wards and bringing further wet and windy weather. Time will tell regarding the accuracy of the forecast models, however I do generally favour the outcomes of the ECMWF over the GFS models, especially for medium to long range forecasting. Here’s hoping for a more settled spell during September.
