A severe weather warning is in place between 12:00 UTC tomorrow Monday and 05:00 UTC Tuesday for the likelihood of localised flooding and isolated thunderstorm activity across much of Munster, South Leinster and South Connacht.
The areas at greatest risk include central Munster, South and West Galway, as well as parts of South Leinster. In the orange warning zones twenty four hour rainfall totals are likely to reach between 30-55 mm in some places, especially over the higher ground.
Localised flooding is likely due the persistence and intensity of the rain, combined with the previous rainfall in these areas over the past week which has already brought some significant local flooding events to parts of Cork, Kerry, Clare and Limerick.
Please exercise caution if travelling through the heaviest of the rainfall, and remember to never attempt to drive through water that’s depth is unknown.
