Study for a Degree at Portlaoise Institute

Portlaoise Institute offers three Level 8 Degree courses in IT Management, Software Development, and Business for September 2025. These innovative programmes provide a seamless pathway to higher education, allowing students to complete their first year at Portlaoise Institute before progressing to the South East Technological University (SETU) Carlow Campus for the remaining three years of their degree.

The first year at Portlaoise Institute is completely free, making this an exceptional opportunity for students to access quality education without financial barriers. The courses are designed to provide a strong foundation in key disciplines, with Business students attending classes over three days per week, while IT Management and Software Development students engage in a full four-day schedule.

“We are thrilled to offer these degree programmes in partnership with SETU Carlow,” said Keith McClearn, Principal of Portlaoise Institute. “This initiative allows students to gain valuable academic and practical experience locally before transitioning to university life. The affordability and accessibility of these degrees make it a game-changer for students looking to build successful careers in business and technology.”
