This Week’s Weather

Rather mixed conditions look set to continue for the coming week as our weather continues to be influenced by the location of the jet stream and the fact that our weather has predominantly been emerging from the west for the past number of weeks.
Rather overcast conditions today in many areas with some patches of rain or drizzle around this morning. There will be a drying trend through the afternoon though cloud may be stubborn to clear in some areas. Feel a little cool with highs of between 16-17 degrees Celsius.
Some outbreaks of rain or drizzle are expected to develop tomorrow morning across Connacht, Ulster and much of Leinster, with parts of South and West Munster possibly holding dry throughout. The rain and drizzle will continue in the north, east and midlands through the afternoon before gradually clearing away later. Highs of between 17-18 degrees Celsius.
Our weather will improve somewhat from Wednesday onwards with winds remaining in a westerly origin, feeding in some cloudy spells but also with some good sunny spells developing, especially away from Atlantic coastal areas. This drier spell of weather will persist for all up until Saturday.
During Saturday a weak front is expected to bring some mist or drizzle along the south coast and through parts of south Munster and Leinster. Elsewhere dry conditions will prevail though possibly overcast. Sunday will be the best day of next weekend with some good sunny spells likely though develop, although cloudier periods may persist in some areas.

The general outlook beyond next weekend is for higher pressure to the southwest extending across the country leading to a more settled spell of weather with some good sunshine. Temperatures would also rise to become slightly above average for the time of year. The charts have identified this possibility for some time now with the high pressure failing to materialise on a number of occasions, therefore this extended outlook does come with a pinch of salt.
