Storm Ellen leaves Laois people without power

Nationwide almost 200,000 homes and businesses are waiting for their power to be restored in the wake of ferocious Storm Ellen.(RTE News)  In Laois there are significant power outages affecting residential and commercial customers, The most significant is that affecting Rathdowney. Over 1,000 customers have been affected in the South Laois Town and in its hinterland. Power should be restored to those affected by about 3.45pm today according to powercheck.ie.

Another area affected in Laois is Portarlington where 66 customer are waiting for power to be restored. There are also two clusters in the south west of the county waiting for their power to be restored. They are Borris-In-Ossory and Ballaghmore where 50 and 60 customers approx await restoration of their supply. These two affected areas should see their power back by 5.30pm this evening while those households and businesses without power in Portarlington should have their power back by before 3pm this afternoon.
