St. Abbans AC Training
Our main club training nights takes place every Tuesday and Friday at the club grounds in Monavea, from 7:30pm to 9:00pm. We cater for all age groups above 7 years, where a number of expert coaches will guide you through your training.
Juvenile Training
Our juvenile training is aimed at creating a FUN environment where the focus is on the overall development of physical capacities, fundamental movement skills and general athleticism/running technique. All these skills will be of huge benefit to a child whatever sport they should pursue at a later stage.
Our track and field training sessions are more specialised, dependent on the demands of the event, but include all performance aspects of track and field. All events are covered…
Sprinting events: 60m, 80m, 100m, 200m, and 400m.
Middle distance events: 800m, 1,500m, 3,000m, Steeplechase and Race Walking.
Hurdles: 80m, 100m and 400m.
Throws: Javelin, Hammer, Discus and Shot Putt.
Jumping events: High, Long, Triple and Pole Vault.
Our distance training caters for all disciplines; cross country, track and field (indoor and outdoor), and road racing. There are a number of training groups, so all distances/levels of fitness are catered for….there’s something for everyone. The sessions are well structured, and don’t just focus on ‘clocking up the miles’, but incorporate key elements such as functional movement and strength and conditioning…all with a view to improving your running mechanics and technique.

Fit4Life
Our Fit4Life programme will help develop your fitness in a safe, friendly and fun environment. The programme is open to all male and female adults who wish to get fit, no previous experience is required and you can choose a pace to your level of fitness. It is suitable for beginners through to runners; and the emphasis is on meeting with people of a similar ability on a regular basis to walk, jog or run.
The group meet every Monday and Wednesday night at 7.30pm at the clubhouse in Monavea where they walk or jog around the 400m track or the 1.3km all-weather track. Why not come along and get involved, and bring a friend or two. If interested, make your way into the clubhouse and ask for Bernard, Mark, Jimmy or Mary or any committee member and they will guide you on your training.
TRX/Core
TRX/CORE training takes place on Thursday evenings, and is for all standards, from beginners to improve fitness levels. Suitable for pre-season or just training with a difference. If you want to tone up, get stronger, improve your balance and challenge yourself at YOUR own pace, it’s well worth a try!!
