Following a review of weather forecasts and prevailing river levels in County Laois, Laois County Council’s Severe Weather Assessment Team wishes to highlight the following.

Water levels on the Barrow at Bornass Bridge have peaked and are now falling steadily. A small number of flooding and other issues resulting from Storm Jorge are being addressed with the assistance of LCC staff.

More flooding could be on the cards.

Met Éireann weather forecast is for widespread frost tonight (Sunday) into Monday morning. LCC Winter Maintenance Team will be deployed as necessary.

As Monday morning is invariably a busy morning for road traffic motorists are advised to please drive carefully tomorrow morning, respect and obey any diversionary signage where it is in place and be mindful of localised flooding and/or icy patches on roads.

The River Nore in an icy embrace

Mini Cold Snap overnight will leave roads in a treacherous condition tonight

Roads currently closed in Co. Laois – Old Leighlin Road, Graiguecullen.
