‘SALUTING THE BRAVE’

To mark Heritage Week 2015 Portarlington Arts & Heritage Group have organised production of ‘Saluting the Brave’, an evening of music, drama, song and dance depicting the story of two young soldiers from Portarlington going to war in 1914. The show is produced and directed by local musician Emer Dunne and features traditional music group Emer Dunne & Drua and the Portarlington Drama Group. The story is told through the medium of familiar songs such as “It’s a Long way to Tipperary” and with actors, narration, dance and audio visual effects.

The show takes place on Saturday August 29 commencing at 8pm sharp in the old Convent , Patrick Street, by kind permission of Fr. Dooley. A directory of men from Portarlington killed in the Great War will also be launched on the night. Admission is €10 and tickets are available from committee members or at the door on the night. This event is kindly supported by Laois Co. Council.
