Upcoming Road Improvement Works in Portlaoise
Laois County Council has recently appointed Brian Conneely & Co. Ltd to upgrade four junctions in Portlaoise as part of their road works programme for 2015. These works are designed not only to improve the traffic capacity and flow at the following junctions but also to enhance facilities for cyclists and pedestrians:-
N80 Stradbally Road/ Southern Circular Road (Summerhill) Junction
N80 Stradbally Road/Block Road Junction
R445 Dublin Road/Block Road Junction
R445 Dublin Road/Fielbrook Junction

The works are planned to commence on 29th June and have been phased to ensure minimal disruption. The junctions on the Stradbally Road will be substantially complete by the end of August and following on to the Dublin Road due for completion by November 2015. Works will not be taking place simultaneously at both locations.

The works include road realignment, footpaths, lighting, drainage, raised pedestrian crossings, traffic calming, signage and line marking.

There are minor traffic calming works to be carried out in the Beladd Lower Estate which are to be carried out in conjunction with the main road works.
