Update on Youth Café Rathdowney

The Rathdowney Vision Group was set up to take over control of the old convent school building. On behalf of the group, we would like to thank Fr. Martin Delaney for handing over the premises to the group so that we could secure funding. In turn, Laois Partnership gave the group a grant of €14,000 to carry out a feasibility study on the project.
I am now happy to say that Pobal (Community Services Programme) has accepted our application for funding and are providing a grant of €50,000 to develop the Youth Café and improve the building. Work will commence within the next couple of months and we would hope to have the official opening before the end of the year.
This will mean that the building will be in full use once again, with Claire Ryan currently governing the crèche, the Men’s Shed project, and the Youth Café.
