Rain rules for Bank Holiday

One might be forgiven for thinking that mother nature has a twisted sense of humour when it comes to Bank Holiday weekends, and so far this one has proven to be something of a washout.
Our rainfall gauge clocked up an impressive 24.4mm for Saturday which is just 1mm shy of one inch in old currency. Adding the 5.6mm for the previous 12hrs gives a total of 30.0mm for the month of May so far.
With more rain on the way, this time in the form of locally heavy showers, these totals are likely to be increased upon and some localised spot flooding cannot be ruled out if caught under a thundery downpour.
Further showers for Monday, though not as widespread or as heavy with some lucky spots escaping dry altogether.
