First Shots

RTE filmed a promotional piece at Colt Woods on February 15th for the “First Shots” centenary reenactment event being held on March 20th at Stradbally Woodland Railway. This reenactment involves members of the Portlaoise Men’s Shed.

The first action of the 1916 Rising took place in Laois and this reenactment is a fitting tribute to this historic event.

Special Portlaoise Market Place

The Market Place in Portlaoise is set to have at least twenty of these spaces (see poster below) available over the coming month. Inspired by the traders, people and produce from the market place in Maryborough 100 years ago one has created a space for traders, clubs, musicians, storytellers and craftspeople who are interested in displaying and selling during the celebrations planned for Portlaoise in 2016.

A very special market place!
