Macra is a voluntary organisation for young people aged 17-40 years old especially for those who have an interest in farming, rural life and have community involvement. Macra was originally founded to support young farmers but over the years has grown much more than an agricultural group. Macra offers members opportunities in:

– Social events and nights out

– Sport competitions ( volleyball, soccer, tag rugby, bowling and much more)

– Public speaking and debating

– Leadership and personal development

– Travel and national festivals

– Agricultural discussion groups and farm walks

– Community fundraising and charity event

Portlaoise Macra was established in 1952. Portlaoise Macra is a small club that continues to grow by bringing young people together from across the community and surrounding towns i.e. Timahoe, Stradbally, Vicarstown, Portlaoise, Ballyroan, Ballyfin, Ballybrittas and Fisherstown. We are hosting a new members night on the Friday 15th of May 2026 in the Vintage Inn Stradbally where you will find our members playing pool and darts. We are offering €10 off membership for the first 10 people who attended and sign up on the night.
