PORTLAOISE HOSPITAL ON AGENDA AT FIANNA FÁIL YOUTH CONFERENCE

The Fianna Fáil National Youth Conference in Limerick was hailed as a great success for the party with over 500 delegates attending. The Laois branch of Ógra had a very successful weekend, achieving key policy commitments in relation to Portlaoise Hospital and winning the inaugural Darragh Frain Award for the Best County Branch.

Speaking on the Portlaoise Hospital policy commitment, Chairperson Thomas Foy said: “The hospital is a very important issue to all of our members in Laois and with that in mind we decided to raise it at the National Conference. Thankfully due to our efforts it is now officially Ógra policy to support the full retention of services in the hospital. In addition, going forward, we will be pushing our counterparts in the Fianna Fáil Party to make it their policy as well.”

As well as undertaking productive policy discussions, Laois was also the recipient of the Darragh Frain Award, which was given to the Best County Ógra organisation on the island of Ireland. Secretary Darragh O’Connor said of the award, “We are all very proud to have received the award. Laois Ógra will now be pushing on from this success to achieve even more”.
