Portlaoise Educate Together electrified by Transmitter

School was out for the pupils and staff at Portlaoise Educate together on Friday last the 5th May. Transmitter blasted out chart favourites from the likes of Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran. As part of their community 2017 School Tour Transmitter didn’t disappoint with an electric atmosphere in the school halla it was hard not to dance and jump around.

The children were ecstatic and for most of them it was their first ever experience of a live music gig it was hard not to be part of this unique occasion. Live music streams appeared on the school’s Facebook page to share with the parents and local community and the atmosphere reached dizzying heights during the senior show in the early afternoon.

grand total of €206 was raised on Friday last at the school’s ‘Music for Music’ gig with Transmitter. All proceeds will go towards music equipment for the school. A huge thank you to everyone again who supported this memorable event we hope the children had a ball!!

Pam Grogan and Siobhan Mannion from the Parents Association had met with front man Stewart Quinn back in January where he selflessly offered the bands time to generate charitable funds for the school and community. The children were asked to bring in a donation and over €200 was raised for music equipment for the school.

Stewart embarked on the bands school tour with the concept of raising funds for local charities. They started on Thursday 4th May in the Holy Family Senior School, Portlaoise Educate Together N.S. on Friday 5th May where they performed two separate music gigs and also provided a disco for the children in Le Cheile (autism unit). Not deterred they performed in The Courtyard in Kavanaghs Bar & Venue Friday night. They finish their tour in the Dunamaise Arts Centre on Tuesday 9th May.

It was a day most of the children will never forget, they band have created fans for life with several autographs being dished out on the day, the parents association and the school’s principal Sinead Ahern are incredibly grateful for the generosity of the lads time, said Siobhan Mannion. Transmitter will continue to thrill audiences nationwide but they come back to us in June for our inaugural Gala Ball in the Killeshin Hotel on the 17th June, it’s going to be an amazing event and night! This is a public event and we encourage people from the community to join us. Ticket enquires at pta@petns.ie or call 057 866 4823.
