Portarlington Tidy Towns are a group of dedicated volunteers, who make every effort to improve and enhance the appearance of Portarlington for all its residents. Portarlington TT would like to thank all the GE20 candidates running in the upcoming elections for respecting the GE20 no poster campaign which is a nationwide initiative and will become the norm across Ireland. As the election date draws near, we would appeal to all candidates to refrain from using green spaces which are maintained by the community and are respected by all other community groups in Portarlington. It would be a sad day to see our town go back to having over 500 plastic posters, with over 1000 plastic cable ties end up in landfill.

Shouldn’t all of Laois be poster-free?

For the past 3 years, Portarlington TT have been constantly advocating for the council to help us erect an advertisement board in a designated area of the town, and will continue to campaign until we are successful. We hope going forward that all community groups in town will continue to support us in our efforts to make Portarlington a more attractive place to live.
