Portarlington Speakers News
Severe weather warnings and a gale to blow your house away didn’t stop members from around Laois travelling to Killenard Community Centre to enjoy a very entertaining evening with Portarlington Speakers.

Club President Carmel Moore welcoming our newest member Geraldine Kennedy
Club President Carmel Moore welcomed the welcomed the Club’s newest member Geraldine Kennedy. Carmel continued giving an inspirational speech on a mother’s role in the rise of Bill Cullen. Mark Bastow amused everyone with his tale of Henry VIII and Robert Frost’s short poem on the Hardship of Accounting. An unusual table topics session recalled childhood days getting the haycocks in, that most important domestic utensil the waiter’s friend (corkscrew), and how to organise your life using post-it notes (Oh! Emma). A very interesting round table discussion on Friday Fiver and radio interviews followed.
Your last chance in 2015 to visit Portarlington Speakers will be on Tuesday December 1 from 7.45pm to 9.30pm at the Killenard Community Centre. Meetings will then resume in January 2016. Remember there is always a warm friendly welcome and an interesting evening ahead at the meetings. See the Club on Facebook, MeetUp, and on our website here.
