Lest we forget
TEA AND TRENCH CAKE. Fancy a cup of tea and a slice of trench cake ? Trench cake was the name given to the type of cake made by families at home and sent to relatives serving at the front during the First World War. It was considered a great treat by the soldiers receiving it. Those attending the Somme Commemoration on 26th August in the French Church will have the opportunity to try a slice of trench cake with their cup of tea after the talk. The event starts at 8.00pm, admission is free and all are welcome.
