Podcast: Interview with Pat Critchley

Many thanks to Tomas Moore for permission to post his ‘Inside the White Line’ Podcasts here.

Pat Critchley is a man who needs very little introduction. As a player he represented Portlaoise and Laois with distinction. He loves Portlaoise. 14 Laois Championship medals, 7 hurling & 7 football, Leinster Club football titles and the Holy Grail in 1983 when The Town won the all-Ireland club football title. In 1985 he created history by becoming the first and only Laois man to ever win an All-Star hurling award. He’s also a recipient of the Leinster GAA Hall of Fame award for his achievements. But coaching is where he excels since his playing days ended. His days are spent on a GAA pitch or in a basketball hall in a coaching or a viewing capacity. Eire Og in Carlow, James Stephens in Kilkenny, Laois Ladies Footballers, underage players in Laois, Scoil Chroist Ri, IT Carlow and many others have experienced life under Pat.
His curly locks make him stand out from the crowd but his success on and off the field puts him in a league on his own. Dual player, coach, musician, story teller and a winner.
This is his story.
