Pedal Power in Durrow as Bike Week spins into view

Durrow Community Bike Hire’s Bike Week programme

Pedal Vintage: Durrow Community Bike Hire operating in the South Laois area are please to announce their 2024 Bike Week programme, 12th to 19th May.

Sunday 12th May: Family Cycle leaving from Bob’s Bar, Durrow at 2.30pm.

Monday 13th May: 35km ebike Safari, departing from Durrow Garda Station at 11am

Tuesday 14th May: Back on Yer Bike, in Ballacolla at 7.00pm

Wednesday 15th May: School Run, commencing at 10.00am, Ballacolla, Shanahoe and Clough schools.

Thursday 16th May: Bob meets Polly on the N77, a leisure cycle from Abbeyleix to Durrow and back, leaving from Abbeyleix Manor Hotel at 11.00am.

Friday 17th May: Laois PPN Leisure Cycle leaving from the Durrow Garda Station at  7.00pm.

Saturday 18th May: Olksander Yasnitski Tribute Cycle to commemorate Ukrainian Refugee Olksander who regularly cycled with Pedal Vintage Durrowfrom Castle Arms Hotel, Durrow at 2.30pm. 

Sunday 19th May: Pedalling Poetry, an 18km spin with poetry, song, music, bees birds and more, departing from Bob’s Bar at 12.00pm.

This festival of cycling has something for everyone. The organisers emphasise safety first; helmets and High Viz jackets must be worn. Welcome everyone to enjoy the experience.

Additional information: Pedal Vintage are a community based, bicycle hire business who support a local men’s shed, The Rothar Rogues, a group of retired men who enjoy cycling. Not to be outdone, the ladies of Durrow have a similar group Pedal Sisters.Pedal Vintage, The Rothar Rogues and the Pedal Sisters are working on developing a family cycling hub in Durrow which will be a major boost to the area.
