STRICTLY COME DANCING:
Rounders on the Rocks: Strictly Come Dancing for Pat Barnaville after Mass on Sunday 18th of October from 11am to 12pm for 12 year olds to 60! Tea and biscuits served. Raffle draw with a guitar amongst the prizes! Admission is €5 per adult.

Bagatelle in Concert: As part of their Final Year Tour, well known group Bagatelle will appear at The Castle Arms Hotel on Friday 23rd October from 9pm ‘till midnight. The concert is for Trish and Veronica who are taking part in Strictly Come Dancing. Tickets, €20 each, are available from The Castle Arms   Hotel, Lawlors Gala and The Copper  Kettle or by contacting Trish directly on (086) 8779014. A great night is assured. Your support would be most appreciated.

Raffle for Rory and Claire Results: Claire Walsh and Rory Doyle wish to thank most sincerely everyone who supported their draw for funds for Strictly Come Dancing. The Raffle winners on the night were: Calf/€250: Ela Henderson, Coolnacritta; Flynn Hotel Group Weekend Away: Ann Mahony, Gurteen;  Hamper: Eamonn Brennan, Oldtown; Bottle of Whisky: Alma Ryan, Ballyboden. THIRD LAOIS DURROW SCOUTS:

Spaces are available in our cub section at the moment – ages 9 to 12 and scouts 12 to 15 and a half also in Venture Scouts aged 15 and a half to 18. Anyone over 28 welcome as a Rover or Scouter. So if you like the outdoors and would like to join the adventure please contact Group Leader Maureen Campion.

DUNMORE COMMUNITY ALERT:

Minister for the Environment Alan Kelly has announced the allocation of €50,000 towards the CCTV project at Dunmore. It is envisaged by the Minister that the scheme will be rolled out as a pilot for other rural areas of Ireland. We are deeply grateful to Minister Kelly and Senator John Whelan for their support of the scheme.

The allocated funding together with funds already raised through the hard work of the community will go a long way to providing the best quality system available to ensure the format can be held up as a first-rate example for other groups wishing to add a CCTV structure to their Community Alert arrangement.

Barn Dance:
A big thank you to Andy Phelan and family, Kyle for hosting the recent Barn Dance and all the volunteers who helped out. A very good night was had by all and the monies raised will go towards the CCTV scheme. The Halloween Fancy Dress Party will take place in Bob’s Bar on Friday 30th October 2015. Admission is €5 at the door with plenty of prizes to be won.
SAVE CULLOHILL MOUNTAIN:
A public meeting will be held on Wednesday October 14th in Cullohill Community Centre at 8pm to discuss the proposed erection of wind turbines on Cullohill Mountain. A number of speakers including public representatives will attend. Have your say.
CULLOHILL ICA:
Cullohill ICA held their October meeting in the Community hall on Tuesday night last. Votes of sympathy were extended to Alice Fitzpatrick on death or her mother Mrs. Kinnane, to Bridie Mahon and Campion Brothers on the death of Bridie’s husband in Seir Kieran. The Ploughing Match team and organisers were congratulated on a wonderful event, enjoyed by all. Members will attend craft day in Castletown on Saturday October 17 at 11am. The recent spate of crime was discussed in a lively debate and everyone was asked to be extra vigilant in helping to prevent crime. The raffle winners were Mary Bergin, Nancy Phelan and Ann Delaney. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday November 3rd at 8pm.

Heywood Community School Ballinakill hold their Open Night on Thursday 22nd October from 7pm to 9pm for prospective First Year Students and their Parent(s)/Guardian(s). All are welcome.
