Nicole Drought to defend Championship lead in Spain this weekend

Roscrea speedster Nicole Drought preparing for big weekend in 2026 Iberian Supercars Season

Nicole Drought is preparing for one of the biggest weekends of the 2026 Iberian Supercars season, as she heads to the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia for the Valencia Iberian Festival from 25–27 September.

Drought will return to the highly competitive GTX AM class at the wheel of the ProTech Motorsport Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS, continuing her impressive first season of international GT racing.

The Tipperary driver has made a strong impression since stepping onto the European GT stage in 2026. After securing a GTX AM podium on her Iberian Supercars debut at Portimão, Drought went on to take two GTX AM victories at Jarama, underlining both her pace and consistency in the Porsche GT4 machinery. Alongside co driver Lucas Fothergill, Nicole leads the Spanish GTX AM Championship by 20 points with four races to run, two of which take place this coming weekend.

Valencia represents another major challenge, with the Circuit Ricardo Tormo providing a very different test from the circuits encountered earlier in the season. The tight and technical layout leaves little margin for error, while the long weekend will demand strong pace across qualifying and both races.

Drought is determined to build on the momentum generated earlier in the season.

“Valencia is a weekend I’m really looking forward to. We’ve learned a huge amount with the Porsche this year and the results at Jarama gave the whole team a real confidence boost. The aim now is to put everything we have learned into practice and finish the season strongly.
The Circuit Ricardo Tormo is a challenging track and there will be plenty of competition in GTX AM, so we know we have to be at our best from the first session. I’m really looking forward to getting back in the car and representing Ireland and our partners in Spain.”

Lucas sprays the bubbly at Jarama in Spain, where she took two wins earlier this season.

The Valencia weekend will see the Iberian Supercars field competing as part of the Valencia Iberian Festival, with qualifying and racing taking place from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 September.

For Nicole Drought Racing and ProTech Motorsport, the event represents another important milestone in an ambitious debut season of European GT competition.

With the experience gained throughout 2026 and proven race-winning pace now established in the GTX AM class, Drought heads to Valencia determined to challenge at the front once again.
