Multi-talented Mountrath student excels
16-year-old Mountrath Community School student Christopher Carew is literally on cloud nine this morning (10/01/16) having just won gold for his school in the Leinster Senior Schools Championships in Dublin, in the 100-Metre Breast Stroke Final.
This follows hot on the heels of picking up a category award for Mountrath Community School, at the BT Young Scientist on Friday night for his project “Asthma Control: Laps or lengths, which matter most?” For more details of Christopher’s project click here.

The victory was all the more extraordinary because the Laois Marlins swimmer is recovering from an ankle fracture sustained during basketball training on December 21! Not to mention 4 days of exhibiting at the Young Scientist!
Winning the race this morning guarantees selection onto the Interpro team to represent Leinster.
What a weekend?!
