Mountrath & District Camera Club update

Mountrath and District Camera Club is a club for photography enthusiasts in the Mountrath and surrounding areas  The club was established in October 2012 and has an average of 18 members.  We meet every second Tuesday in the METAC centre (www.metac.ie) and sometimes we meet in Phelan’s Restaurant, both in Mountrath.

Our members come from all walks of life and are interested in photography mainly as a hobby and for some professionally.  The club is not just for the new wave of digital camera owners, good old film is still alive and welcome here and most mobile phones have quite good cameras included nowadays so there is no excuse for hiding your talent at home on your PC/laptop or in the drawer!

We go on outings to photograph everything and anything and these outings are great fun.  We’ve been to Gash Gardens Castletown, Heywood Gardens , Lough Boora Bog in Offaly to name a few and most recently Fossey Mountain Springs in Timahoe, Co Laois.

Each month we run a ‘Theme’, our members take photos relating to that theme and then at the end of the month we judge 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Our photos can be viewed on our Facebook page for all to see and ‘Like’ and also on Flickr.  Just ‘google’ us and you will find us.

This year we are holding a Golf Classic to raise funds for the club and we are also donating a percentage of the proceeds to the Mountrath Christmas Lights Fund.  If anyone is interested in putting a team in the Golf Classic please contact Kate on 05787 32558 or 087 249 0975.

Teams of 4 are €80 and there are prizes for;

1st, 2nd & 3rd Prizes for teams consisting only of GUI or ILGU members.

1st, 2nd & 3rd Prizes for teams consisting of non GUI and ILGU members.

Prizes also for ‘Ladies Team’, ‘ Longest Drive ‘, ‘Nearest to the Pin’ and ‘Hole in One’.

Raffle on the night with music and good fun!
