CELEBRATE HARRY POTTER’S 20TH BIRTHDAY AT MOUNTMELLICK LIBRARY:
Dress up and photo booth, presentation on J. K. Rowling, Harry Potter Quiz on Tuesday 27th June-come in wearing your wizarding robes or Harry Potter costumes! We are delighted to welcome Assistant Professor, Doctor Jane Suzanne Carroll on Wednesday 28thJune for a lecture for those aged 12 and over on “The Wand and the Word: The magic of Harry Potter. Wand workshops on Thursday 29th June and on Friday 30th June there will presentation of prizes to our Invent A Spell competition winners! INVENT A SPELL COMPETITION:
Harry Potter will be 20 years old in June! As part of the celebrations Mountmellick Library will be holding a competition for all ages in the area- “Invent A Spell” -what is the spell, what does it do, how did you make up the wording of the spell? Pick up an entry form in Mountmellick Library- the closing date for entries is Tuesday 27th June. We will have a competition entry box with a display and books in the library to help you create a spell-drop in!

SUMMER EVENTS AT YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY:
The Laois Libraries summer brochure is now available at your local library. Mountmellick Library will be hosting Angelica’s magic science show in July, the national reptile zoo and living history’s Viking show in August. Other events include Shondo Japanese calligraphy, Dr. Seuss craft, book stars dress up and much more. Call in to the library to pick up a brochure and call 0578644572 to reserve places as these are limited!
CHESS CLUB:
Junior Chess Club will be on in Mountmellick library on June 17th 10.30 – 11.30am for ages 7 – 13. If interested call 0578644572 to book a place or call into Mountmellick Library.
