RIGHT START TO READING: Learning to read and write doesn’t start in playschool and school. Developing language and literacy skills begins at birth through everyday interactions, such as sharing books ,talking, telling stories, singing songs and rhyming together. There will be an informal talk in Mountmellick library on Friday 18th May at 10.30 a.m. to find out how adults—parents, grandparents, carers and early childcare practitioners — can help babies and young children (0-3 years) to develop their language skills and their love of books and reading in a fun way from day one. This is an informal talk and parents are welcome to bring young children.
