EUROPE DIRECT SOAPBOX COMPETITION: The 19 and over Soapbox will be held on Wednesday 18th October and the under 19 competition will be on Wednesday 25th October at 6 p.m. in Mountmellick Library! Be in with a chance to win an I Pad on the night! Winners will then compete in an all Ireland final in Dublin for the first prize of €1,000 and a trip to Brussels!


BABY BOOK CLUB: The next baby book club is on Tuesday 17th October at 10.30 a.m.  Would you like to introduce your baby or young child to books and the love of reading? Baby Book Club in Mountmellick Library is for babies from  0 – 18 months and their parents and siblings. Socialise with other children and babies, listen to rhymes, sing along and pick up reading tips!


ART FOR OUR SAKE: Two striking sculptures are currently on display in Mountmellick Library. This was a collaborative project between Clonaslee College transition year students, their art teacher Amanda Harkin and local artist Tom Joyce. The theme of the project is mental health and general well being. The sculptures were created using a variety of materials and construction techniques. This project is part of the Artists in School scheme administered by Laois Arts office. Why not drop in and see them for yourself?


The Junior Chess Club has started back in Mountmellick Library after the summer break. The next one is on Saturday 21st October from 10.30 a.m to 11.30 a.m. for ages 7-13 years of age. All are welcome but knowledge of basic chess moves is necessary.


ADULT CHESS CLUB: The adult chess club has started on Saturday mornings at 12 in Mountmellick Library. If you are interested in joining please ring 0578644572 and let us know!


KEEP CALM AND COLOUR IN: The adult colouring group continue to meet on Thursday mornings from 10.30 a.m. onwards in Mountmellick Library! Drop in do some colouring and have a cup of tea and coffee and a chat! All are welcome.
