Launch of ‘The Bog Road’

Creative Ireland Laois were delighted to support Barry Keegan in publishing his debut graphic novel, as part of the Creative Ireland 2017 Community Grants Scheme.

County Laois was what inspired Barry to create The Bog Road. Barry, a Dubliner, loved to explore the surrounding areas whilst living in the county for over four years. The illustrations are magnificent and the storyline is intriguing. It is a cautionary tale about the dangers of speeding on our roads and the reaction of the spirit world to this phenomenon.  It is an inspirational book and one created with love and passion for County Laois.

When writing the book Barry got a thrill from creating strange events taking place around many famous locations in Laois. Amongst the places which inspired him are Lea Castle, Emo Court, The Portarlington ‘Life’ Sculpture, the amazing Slieve Bloom and the Stoney Man.  There are many more places in the county featured throughout the book and Barry wants to share his love for the county with others.
