U15 TEAM NEWS: Sketchers Cup Round Four – Bagnelstown 0 V 1 Lions. Scorer: Conor Dempsey. A stunning first half strike from Conor Dempsey was enough to decide this intriguing cup  tie. The win puts the young Lions into the last 4 of the SouthEast Region of the SFAI CUP and the last 32 in Ireland. The game was played on a heavy pitch and the Lions had to battle hard against good opposition to secure the win. The first half was even with both teams on the front foot. Eoin Holland in goal kept a cool head to settle the early nerves. An early injury to Joey meant the Lions had to re-jig their attack with Sean Dempsey taking his place. The decisive goal game after 20 minutes when a Ronan Comerford cross found Ciaran Mcmanimim, a clever pass found Eoin Delaney who laid the ball back into the path of Conor who made no mistake from outside the box. Eoin went close just before half time as his early shot shaved the post.
The second half was a different game with the Lions attacking at every opportunity. John, Rob and Conor were winning possession pushing the Lion’s forward. Eoin Delaney, Sean Dempsey and Ciaran Mcmanimim all hit the post as the lads looked for a second. Liam,Tony, Ben and Ronan were excellent in defence as the Lions once again kept a clean sheet. Well done lads a superb achievement from this group of players. They now march on in the National Competition.
