DURROW COMMUNITY ALERT – FANCY DRESS SPOOKY WALK!
Dunmore Community Alert are hosting A Fancy Dress Spooky Walk in Dunmore Wood on Sunday 24th October from 2 to 4pm. Sponsorship cards are available and will be delivered to members in the next week or so. Refreshments and spot prizes on the day. Photo opportunity also available €5. All are most Welcome. We will also be unveiling an information plaque on the former Dunmore House which was demolished in the 1970’s. All proceeds will go for the upkeep and upgrading of community cameras. All support would be greatly appreciated.

We currently have two vacancies on our Community Employment Scheme: Position: 2 x Environmental Workers; Location: Durrow and Ballacolla; No Experienced Required. Work 19.5 hours per week. Eligibility to participate on CE is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1 year or more or 18 years and over for certain disadvantaged groups. THE HARPS GAA SPLIT THE POT:
We encourage club members, parents and supporters to sign up for a standing order for the weekly split the bucket draw. Just €8 a month gives one entry a week, €16 a month gives two entries a week and €20 a month gives three entries a week. NEW PARISH OFFICE IN DURROW:
The new Parish Office is now open at the Presentation Centre beside the Church or call (085) 2625033. Opening hours for this office will be from 10am to 2pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The booking of Masses, Chrisenings of babies, sale of Mass Cards, Booking of weddings and funeral arrangements will go through this office. All matters relating to church business in the parish must also go through this office.

IRISH DANCING CLASSES:
Scoil Rince Katrina practises Traditional Irish Dancing for all ages in a fun-filled environment. Benefits are numerous as it helps children to engage in their coordination, improves posture, helps them learn about timing and rhythm and encourages teamwork. Our main focus is to try to bring out the best in every individual and improve their confidence. There are regular competitions if dancers choose to take part. Book now to secure your place. ODIN KETTLEBELL CLUB:
Kids Classes 6pm Tuesday & Friday; Adults class 7pm Tuesday & Friday. Learn how to use a kettlebell effectively while burning up to 1000 (yes 1000) calories per class. An overall body workout that will make you stronger while burning excess fat. Kettlebell fitness also improves mobility and flexibility. All fitness levels and ages welcome. LIONS AFC POOLS:
The Lions Jackpot 10 Pools gives you 10 fixtures, and you simply must guess the outcome of each match to be in with a chance of winning the Jackpot. If your child is interested in joining scouting at any age, please email Leanne our group leader at email@example.com. We’re also looking for adults to join as leaders – the time commitment you give can be flexible and since we’re a voluntary organisation we rely on our fantastic leaders, without whom the group simply couldn’t exist. And who knows, you might even enjoy yourselves!!!And if being a leader isn’t your thing but you’d like to help in other ways then you could always join our parents and friends committee who help with fundraisers and general logistics throughout the year or become an associate member and offer help that way. Looking forward to September when we will be starting the adventure again.

Please remember to leave no trace when out and about on our walks both in Durrow and around Durrow. We are proud members of Leave No Trace and we hope you will follow suit. Please keep your dogs on a lead, pick up after them and take your rubbish home with you. Leave our town and walks clean for all to enjoy safely. Be a part of who we are and what we believe in.
WALKERS TAKE NOTE:
Please remember that dogs are required to be on a lead on the Leafy Loop walk in Durrow. Please remember that the walk crosses Private, Coillte and Farmland and all dogs are required to be on a lead throughout the route, without exception. For local walkers, if you see a dog off the lead, please do remind visitors that dogs need to be on a lead as although there is some signage reminding people, sometimes it can be missed and visitors may not be aware that dogs must be on a lead at all times.

Durrow Community Market continues on Saturdays from 9am to 12 noon on the Kilkenny Road beside the church. Social Distancing will be in practice and please adhere to the Covid-19 guidelines!
