NATIONAL FIRE SAFETY WEEK:
National Fire Safety week is from October 4th to 11th. This year the main theme is “Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives – Test your Smoke Alarm Weekly”. Before the winter sets in please check your smoke Alarm and your Carbon Monoxide Alarm are in working order. Get your chimney cleaned before you resume daily fires.
CHRISTMAS FAIR AT DURROW – CALLING ALL TRADERS:
Looking to trade at the 2021 Durrow Christmas Market on Sunday 28th November? We’ve a few spaces left but please note we are booked out for Jewellery, Wood Turners, Chocolatiers, Coffee and Woodturners. If you’re Laois based too, we’d love to promote your products with us! SPINK COMHALTAS:

PILATES CLASSES:
Pilates Classes have resumed in Cullohill Community Centre and will continue every Tuesday from 1.30pm to 2.30pm. All welcome, do come along and enjoy yourself!
WEBSITE MAINTENANCE – HELP NEEDED:
We require a volunteer to assist with keeping our community website up to date – full training provided free of charge to the interested candidate. Ideal for someone who wants to gain website development knowledge and bridge the experience gap required for listing on their CV, etc… If you are interested and have roughly a half-an-hour per week to spare, then drop an email to info@durrow.ie with your details. All news articles will be provided, so you don’t have to type these!
THE HARPS GAA SPLIT THE POT:
We encourage club members, parents and supporters to sign up for a standing order for the weekly split the bucket draw. Just €8 a month gives one entry a week, €16 a month gives two entries a week and €20 a month gives three entries a week. There is a lot of expenditure at present in improving the pitches and grounds in Cullahill and Durrow and all support is gratefully appreciated.

CHURCH NEWS:
The following Mass schedule has been set up and is now effective: Saturday Vigil Mass Cullahill: 7.00pm, Durrow 7.30pm Errill 8.30pm. Sunday Mass: Rathdowney; 10.30am, Durrow 12 noon.FIRST COMMUNION: Congratulations to all the children in the First communion Class at Our Lady’s Meadow who received their First Communion on Sunday 3rd of October last.
CONFIRMATION: On Friday 8th October the Children from Durrow will get their Confirmation and under Covid Restrictions at the present time – only the Parents, Sponsor and the person receiving confirmation will be allowed to attend.
CEMETERY MASS:
A Cemetery Mass in Durrow will be held on Sunday 10th of October at 12 noon. Fr. Martin Delaney will celebrate the Mass in the graveyard that day. Families are asked to let their relations know of the date and time. We ask everyone to have their graves cleaned and tidy. Attendance is not restricted but everyone is asked to keep to the Covid guidelines and to wear face masks when in close contact with other people.
NEW PARISH OFFICE IN DURROW:
The new Parish Office will be open on Wednesday October 6th at the Presentation Centre beside the Church. A new office telephone number will be available from the opening day. Opening hours for this office will be from 10am to 2pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The booking of Masses, Chrisenings of babies, sale of Mass Cards, Booking of weddings and funeral arrangements will go through this office. All matters relating to church business in the parish must also go through this office.

IRISH DANCING CLASSES: Scoil Rince Katrina practises Traditional Irish Dancing for all ages in a fun-filled environment. Benefits are numerous as it helps children to engage in their co-ordination, improves posture, helps them learn about timing and rhythm and encourages teamwork. Our main focus is to try to bring out the best in every individual and improve their confidence. There are regular competitions if dancers choose to take part. Book now to secure your place. ODIN KETTLEBELL CLUB:
Kids Classes 6pm Tuesday & Friday; Adults class 7pm Tuesday & Friday. Learn how to use a kettlebell effectively while burning up to 1000 (yes 1000) calories per class. An overall body workout that will make you stronger while burning excess fat. Kettlebell fitness also improves mobility and flexibility. All fitness levels and ages welcome. Small class sizes and all covid guidelines adhered to. Personalised programmes for those who wish to compete. Odin Kettlebell Club are affiliated to The Association of Kettlebell Sport Ireland and operate under the guidelines of the World Kettlebell Sport Federation. LIONS AFC POOLS: The Lions Jackpot 10 Pools gives you 10 fixtures, and you simply must guess the outcome of each match to be in with a chance of winning the Jackpot. Guess all 10 correctly and you’ll win all or a share of the pools jackpot. If no winner of the Jackpot, there will be weekly prize for the highest points scorer each week.
