Be Ready Basketball S & C Programme

Laois Sports Partnership in partnership with Basketball Ireland organised an online strength and conditioning programme for teenage boys and girls to get the participants ready for basketball again when restrictions are eased.

The Be Ready Basketball S&C Programme was instructor by Dylan O’Leary who is the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the U16 Irish Basketball team. The S&C programme ran over 4 days via zoom. Over 89 participants signed up for the programme, which was great to see so many teenagers sign up.

The programme finished on Thursday last (27th April) with great feedback from the participants. They really enjoyed it and cannot wait to return to the court to play some basketball. Many participants are back training outdoors this week with Basketball and we wish them the best of luck in their return. I hope they put the skills learned in the programme to good use on the court.

Exercise in a bag for Day centres/Residential units

I have received funding for a bag of equipment for Day Centres/residential units.  (20 bags)

Bag contains: Resistance bands Light & Medium, 2 x 2kg dumbbells, 2 x 4kg dumbbells, Catch Pad Set, Table tennis net plus bats & balls, Boccia set, Egg Power Grip Light & Strong, Target Game & Bean bags.  We have some videos done up to show how to use the equipment, which I will have to send my what app so I will need a mobile number for someone in the centre.

Laois Sports Partnership aims to increase participation in sport and physical activity across the population of Laois and specifically within groups that would benefit from additional support.

We anticipate an increased need for support from Sports Clubs and Communities as you return to Sport this year.
