Barry welcomes the confirmation of Polling Date

Eoin Barry, Labour area rep in County Laois and Candidate in the upcoming Seanad by-election has welcomed the setting of the date of the 30th of March for the by-election caused by the election of Ivana Bacik to the Dail last summer.

“I’m delighted that the date for the by-election has now been set and the electorate can now look forward to deciding who will replace Deputy Ivana Bacik in the Seanad.

“My campaign will focus on the importance of supporting our front line health care workers, reform in mental health service provision and reducing the impact of economic inequalities.

“In addition I will focus on how we can develop our towns and villages, promoting the importance of flexibility in work and focusing on improving public services.

“As a social worker and family therapist I believe in the importance of true systemic change. I believe the Seanad allows for a space to focus on the type of long term policies and real reform that we need to make in the years ahead.

“I look forward to sharing my ideas with the electorate and hearing about their priorities as we emerge from some of the strictest  Covid-19 restrictions.
