Latest Laois News: Good news for Ballyfin Community Development Association, St. Aengus Soccer Club and Raheen National School

Ballyfin Community Development Association, Mountrath Soccer Club and Raheen National School to

benefit from €129,517 funding under CLÁR Programme

Sean Fleming T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Finance is pleased to confirm that Ballyfin Community Development Association, Mountrath Soccer Club and Raheen National School are to benefit from  €129,517 under the CLÁR Programme.

“CLÁR Programme is a key part for the development and revitalisation of our rural towns and villages, with particular focus on young people and developing outdoor amenities. Our communities have faced challenges during the pandemic and this funding is a commitment by the Government in supporting rural Ireland.”

The details on the 3 Laois projects are as follows:

  • Ballyfin Community Development Association: €49,499.87 
    Provision of a children’s playground. Safe surfacing, seating, fencing, Biodiversity and sensory planting
  • St. Aengus Soccer Club Mountrath:  €30,517.32
    Construction of two accessible toilets with associated septic tank and biodiversity planting
  • Raheen National School : €49,500
    Provide safer access and a pedestrian crossing

“This funding will make a great difference to each project and benefit so many people in the communities. I look forward to seeing work commencing for each project and would like to acknowledge the great work of all involved in these local communities.”

“Recreation is vital to our health and wellbeing, so news of this funding for outdoor amenities in rural Ireland is very welcome. I’m delighted to see that three projects in Laois set to benefit –  €49,500 for a playground for Ballyfin Development Association, €30,517 for toilet facilities for St. Aengus FC, and €49,500 for a pedestrian crossing for Tobar na Leinn NS.”
