Latest Laois News: Funding allocated to Laois Community-Based Projects

€22,290 allocated to Laois Community Based Projects

Sean Fleming T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Finance is pleased to confirm that 5 Laois community-based projects have been allocated funds under the Communities Integration Fund 2021.

“Local community-based organisations across Ireland play an important role in welcoming and integrating migrants and refugees. This funding will support local communities nationwide to reconnect and to celebrate the rich cultural diversity in our society.”

The 5 organisations and their projects who were successful for funding are:

Laois Integration Network: Laois Integration Network Project €2,300

Mountrath Community Forum: Taste of the World €5,000

Mountrath Scout Group: Midlands Scouts Link-Up part 2 €5,000

Laois Partnership Company: We love where we live – Active citizenship of migrant communities in Co. Laois €4,990

Laois Africa Support Group: LASG Work Placement for young adults €5000

Minister Hackett had this to say about the announcement:

“I would like to thank everyone for their work in these and similar community organisations in Laois. Our community organisations,  volunteers and everyone who is involved reach out and help so many individuals and groups in our towns and villages.

Laois Africa Support Group’s  LASG Work Placement for young adults will receive €5000 in funding

“Integration is key to building community and we have some wonderful people in Laois working to enhance that connection. I’m delighted to see €22,290 going to five projects in this county.”
