Laois County Council has announced that the Ballymorris road will be closed until February 16. It will be closed from the Ballymorris Road Railway Bridge to Canal Road/ Ballymorris Road Crossroads. The closure is necessary to facilitate the installation of traffic lights, footpath and public lighting.

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Theresa Quinn (nee McGuinness), Skerries, Dublin & formerly Droughill, Portarlington who passed away on January 14. Theresa was predeceased by her loving husband Tom, sons Patrick & Tommy. Patsy was predeceased by her loving husband Paddy & adored daughter Kay. Patsy was a life time member of Portarlington Social Services/Meals on Wheels, where she was held in high esteem by her fellow Committee members down the years.
