SCHOOL ADMISSIONS

If you wish to apply for your child to enrol at St John’s School, Killenard, then you can download the application form from their website. Contact the school office at office@naomheoin.ie or call 0578626717. The school will cease accepting applications on February 5. People will be notified by February 26, and you must accept offers by March 12.

St Patrick’s BNS-Application forms available from the school office. Contact office at 0578623394 or e-mailinfo@stpatrick-bns.ie. Also available to download from school website. Applications accepted up to February 8. Applicants will be notified by March 1 & must confirm acceptance by March 15.

ROAD CLOSURE

Laois County Council has announced that the Ballymorris road will be closed until February 16. It will be closed from the Ballymorris Road Railway Bridge to Canal Road/ Ballymorris Road Crossroads. The closure is necessary to facilitate the installation of traffic lights, footpath and public lighting.

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Theresa Quinn (nee McGuinness), Skerries, Dublin & formerly Droughill, Portarlington who passed away on January 14. Theresa was predeceased by her loving husband Tom, sons Patrick & Tommy. She will be sadly missed by her loving son Michael, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family & a large circle of friends, especially her Bingo friends. A family funeral took place on Monday January 18. May Theresa’s gentle soul rest in Peace.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Bunta, daughter Andrea, his heartbroken parents Jimmy & Mary, brothers Declan & Rory, sisters Josephine & Sandra, aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews, extended family & many friends. Funeral for family took place on Sunday January 17 at St Michael’s Church, with burial after in St Michael’s cemetery Portarlington. May Andrew rest in Peace.

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Patsy McGuinness (nee Dunne), Avondale Estate who passed away on Thursday January 21 at Oakdale nursing home. Patsy was predeceased by her loving husband Paddy & adored daughter Kay. She will be sadly missed by her son Sean, brother Peter & sister Teresa, daughter in law Catherine & son in law Michael, her adored grandchildren Niall, Stephanie, Enya & James, extended family, neighbours & friends. Patsy was a life time member of Portarlington Social Services/Meals on Wheels, where she was held in high esteem by her fellow Committee members down the years. Family funeral took place on Saturday January 23 at St Michael’s Church, with burial after in St Michael’s Cemetery. May Patsy’s gentle soul rest in Peace.
