Portarlington Social Services seniors Bingo returns to the Centre on Wednesday January 31 at 8pm. Come along for a few games & a cuppa afterwards.

You can start pregnancy yoga from 12 wks right up until you have your baby. The classes are suitable for all levels. Classes include breathwork, yoga poses beneficial for pregnancy and birth and ends with a relaxing guided meditation.

Portarlington, The Old Town by the late Ronnie Mathews is now available from Tim Mathews, Ronnie’s son. Tim has managed to secure a small reprint of his Dad’s bestselling book, launched in 2012. It has extra pages and photos, and would make a very fitting  present for anyone interested in the town, or a lighthearted read of a midland Town life of someone born in the 1930s . Ronnie was a renowned historian and his Archive rests with Laois County Council for the future. The book has a gloss cover and costs €25. You can purchase a copy by sending Tim an email on ;

The Portarlington Community Centre are holding the Parents & Toddler’s group in the centre every Wednesday from 10am-12pm. Why not call in and have a chat and coffee whilst your child or grandchild gets to play.


Deepest Sympathy to the family of Margaret (Rita) McGreevy (nee Moore), Dublin, Portarlington & Roscommon, who passed away on January 12. Margaret was predeceased by her beloved husband Joe (formerly of Farnbeg, Strokestown, Co. Roscommon) and her parents Peter and Nora. Rita will be sadly missed by her sister-in-laws Susan and Peggy, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives and friends. Funeral took place on Wednesday January 17. May Rita’s gentle soul rest in Peace.
