MOUNTMELLICK MACRA LIGHT UP – TRUCK & TRACTOR RUN
On Saturday December 16, a Christmas-themed charity Light Up Truck & Tractor Run will depart Mountmellick at 6 pm sharp, and will pass through Emo village at approx 6.20pm, Ballybrittas at 6.30pm & Portarlington at 6.45pm. Spectators are welcome along the route. For those wishing to take part, registration will take place in the MDA Mountmellick R32 A0PK from 3pm on the day. Prizes for best truck and tractor will be awarded on the night. We are hoping that vehicles taking part will be decorated in a Christmas theme; however, it is important to note that decoration is not essential to participate in the run. All support greatly appreciated.

Grow Mental Health Support meeting takes place every Thursday afternoon from 2.30pm until 4.30pm in the Social Services Centre, Link Road, Portarlington.

PORT LIONS CLUB
The 2023 Lions club Christmas collection will be taking part in both Centra Main street, and Supervalu on the weekend of December 15 and 16.
Monies collected will be used to buy food vouchers, and to assist those who might need help over the Christmas period. Please remember the dates. December 15 to 16 for our collection, and no later than the 18 for the appeals. Thank you as always for your support, your kindness is never lacking. 100% of all money raised goes back into our community.
Deepest Sympathy to the family of Brigid Emerson (nee Lee), Bishopswood Portarlington & formerly Co, Meath who passed away on Sunday December 3 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Brigid was predeceased by her husband Hugh & her beloved daughter Grainne. She will be sadly missed by her loving sons, daughters, grandchildren, brother Jimmy, sister Eilish, extended family, neighbours & her many many friends. May Brigid’s gentle soul rest in Peace. Funeral took place on Wednesday December 6.
Deepest Sympathy to the family of Andrew McBride Avondale Est & late of London UK and Carrickshock, County Kilkenny. who passed away surrounded by his loving family on December 5. Andrew will be sadly missed by his loving wife Teresa, sons Terry, Philip and Simon, his son’s partners Catherine and Mollie, grandchildren, brothers Tony and Edward, sisters Teresa and Eileen, extended family and all his friends. Funeral took place on Thursday December 7.
May Andrew rest in Peace.

Knitting Club-Meets every Friday morning 10:30am-12:30. All skill levels from beginner to advanced are welcome!
Huge congratulations to Cillín Hoey on winning a Silver medal with the Irish junior boy’s team at the International schools combined events in Cardiff. Cillín and the team, which consisted of a second Laois athlete and two from Cork had to compete in 5 events 60m hurdles, long jump, shot put, 200m and 800m to gain points.
The team performed extremely well to claim the Silver medal. This is a huge achievement and has topped off an amazing year for this very talented young athlete and the future definitely looks bright. Cillín is a 2nd year student in Colaiste Iosagain Portarlington and a member of Emo/Rath AC.
