PORT LIONS CLUB

The 2023 Lions club Christmas collection will be taking part in both Centra Main street, and Supervalu on the weekend of December 15 and 16. 

Monies collected will be used to buy food vouchers, and to assist those who might need help over the Christmas period. 

Appeals can be put in writing anytime, BUT NO LATER THAN DEC 18 to give us time to deliver etc. They must contain a phone number or we cant help. Appeals can be put into the confidential box under the notice board in the Credit Union, or left into Lions club member Brian Whelans electrical shop in the Main street. All requests are dealt wirh in utmost confidence and letters destroyed after.

Please remember the dates. December 15th to 16th for our collection,and no later than the 18th for the appeals. Thank you as always for your support, your kindness is never lacking. 100% of all money raised goes back into our community.

The Portarlington Women’s Shed are holding a Christmas Market in the Community Centre on next Saturday December 9 @11am. Phone 0874748068 for ore information.

SOLAS CHRISTMAS MARKETS

Christmas Vintage and Craft markets takes place on Thursday evenings, December 7 &14 from 5-9pm. Sundays December 10 & 17, from 11am-4pm. Live music, Santa grotto, face painting, mulled wine and over 20 craft and vintage market stalls.

SYMPATHY

Deepest Sympathy to the heartbroken family of Brian (the Rall) Keogh, Castlegate who passed away suddenly on Wednesday November 22nd at his home. Brian was predeceased by his parents Garrett and Dora, brothers Gary and John. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Mary, family Nicola, Jean and her husband Guido, Debbie and her partner Clifford, Simon and his partner Hannah, sisters Peg Whelan, Anne Byrne and Doreen Folan, grandchildren Samuel, Ayla, Emmy and Esme, brothers-in-law Oliver and Dick, sisters-in-law Marie, Ann, Lily and Breda,, nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. May Brian rest In Peace.

Reposing at Maher’s Chapel of Rest Portarlington on Friday evening from 5:30pm with Rosary at 8pm. Removal on Saturday morning at 10:20am arriving St Michael’s Church Portarlington for Requiem Mass at 11am. Funeral afterwards to St Michael’s Cemetery Portarlington.

Deepest Sympathy to Joan Kenna, Derrymore Portarlington on the sudden death of her daughter Regina (Gina) Smith, Esker Gate Mountmellick, who passed away on Saturday November 25. Regina will be sadly missed by her loving partner Noel, daughter Ciara, mother Joan, aunt Theresa Sweeney (Mullingar), uncle Tom (Mullingar), extended family, neighbours & friends. Funeral Mass took place on Thursday November 30 at St Joseph’s Church Mountmellick. 

May Regina rest in Peace.

Kathleen was predeceased by her parents Jim & Kathleen (Kit) Kearney. She will be sadly missed by her heartbroken & loving husband Michael, sisters Anne, Mary & Deirdre, brothers Tim, Noel & James, aunts, uncles, extended family, neighbours & friends. May Kathleen’s gentle soul rest in Peace.
