PORTARLINGTON ENTERPRISE CENTRE

The Portarlington Enterprise Centre have partnered up with Technological University of the Shannon, Athlone and ConnectedHubs.ie to bring you two courses 1) Certificate in Business in Entrepreneurship and 2) Bachelor of Business (HONS).

Calling any mature applicants (i.e. over 23 years) or Leaving Certificate -Grade O6 at ordinary level in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate. Flexible study hours. Commencing September 2023. Registration closes next Friday August 25. Avail of student discount rate to use our facilities here in Portarlington.

WOMEN’S SHED

The Portarlington Women’s Shed are now back from their holidays. Meeting every Thursday morning from 10.30am to 12.30pm at the Portarlington Community Centre. Lots of activities & outings. New members are very welcome.

FARMERS MARKET

The Farmers market takes place every Saturday at SOLAS ECO Garden Centre, Portarlington from 10am-2pm. A variety of stalls from fresh fish to organic vegetables, everything you need for your weekly shop. As always we will have local traders selling organic and local produce.

Our Craft Market returns on Sunday September 3. Vintage & Craft market at this one.

SYMPATHY

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Christine (Chris) Lyons (nee Sherlock), Kilrush, Co. Clare & formerly Bracknagh Co. Offaly & Arlington estate, who passed away on Wednesday August 9. Chris will be sadly missed by her loving husband Tony, daughters Edel & Tara, sons Garrett & Ciaran, her 7 grandchildren, sister Margie, extended family, neighbours & friends. Funeral took place on Saturday August 12 in Kilrush. May Chris rest in Peace.

FAMILY FUN DAY

O’Dempsey’s Family Fun Day will be held at the Old Pound on next Saturday August 26. 

The event will see an afternoon of activities and entertainment for children of all ages. 

The day will run from 2pm to 5pm, and a timetable of activities will be shared soon, so keep an eye out for all that’s in store for the day! We look forward to seeing as many of our members and community there for what promises to be a great day at the Old Pound!

LOTTO-Laois Clubs combined Lotto draw takes place as usual, every Tuesday night. Next week’s Jackpot is €8,800. Tickets can be bought from club members or online via www.play.clubforce.com

BINGO

Bingo at Port GAA Centre every Tuesday night at 8pm. Over €3,000 in prize money to be won. Free parking and wheelchair accessible. 

Bus runs every week to the Centre from around the town. If you are interested in being picked up and collected please ring Johnny Mooney at 0857761253 for more information.
