Just a reminder to all the tourism and hospitality businesses in Laois, that there is a grant available from Laois County Council for outdoor seating and accessories including tables, chairs, umbrellas, electric heaters, screens/windbreaks, plant stands, and wooden platforms. To apply click here.

Hello everyone, it’s after been a hard few months, but we are delighted to let you all know that we will be reopening our shop on Main St Portarlington on Monday May 17. From this week we will be starting back with click and collect. We are accepting donations Monday to Friday between 11am and 2-30 pm. At the moment we can only accept 3 bags per person due to space. A big thank you to you all for your support and we hope to see you all again from the 17. Thank you.

PORTARLINGTON CONCERT BAND
Lessons are continuing on a one-to-one basis, and new musicians are always welcome. Contact Pat @0838510428. The Concert Band need your help. Due to Covid the Band were not able to hold any fundraising concerts or do their annual collections in the Community. SYMPATHY
Deepest Sympathy to the family of Maureen Downey (nee Whelan), Droughill, Portarlington who passed away on Monday May 3. Maureen will be sadly missed by her loving & devoted husband Gay, daughters Theresa & Rosaleen, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, neighbours & friends. Funeral Mass took place on Thursday May 6 at St Michael’s Church Portarlington, with burial after in St Michael’s Cemetery. May Maureen’s gentle soul rest in Peace.

For anyone local who wishes to purchase a book for the Online Bingo but who do not have email access, you can order from the club by texting 085 8264994 via text or WhatsApp giving your name and address. A reply will be sent back when books are ready. Books can then be collected in Brian Whelan’s Electrical shop on Main Street. Full payment upon collection. PLEASE NOTE: Cut off for Online book purchases is 12pm on Tuesdays and cut off for phone purchases is 6pm on Monday evenings.

Our club is now back training & we are made up of players from Portarlington , Gracefield , Courtwood , O’Dempeys, Emo & Rath, which is our catchment area. New players from these areas are more than welcome to join our thriving Club. Banrion Gaels Camogie club have announced their training times for 2021.
All training will take place on the back pitch at McCann Park, unless otherwise informed. Please park at GAA centre and walk your child to the back pitch. No parking allowed at back pitch for Health & Safety reasons. Mondays- U16/U18 – coach will advise. Tuesdays – 6 to 7pm – U8/10/12/14. Thursdays – U16/U18 – coach will advise. Saturdays – 12 to 1pm-U8/10/12. Saturdays – 12 to 1.30pm- U14/U16/U18.
