This group are proud to once again to be bringing you the Laois Africa Day 2023. Only thing is this year is going to be way better than the other year’s, as we are expecting more countries. That means more food, more culture, more music and more happy faces. See you on Saturday June 3 at the Portlaoise Leisure Centre from 12pm to 5pm.

SUMMER CAMP

Summer camp is back at Scoil Phádraig Portarlington! Open to both boys and girls of Primary school age. E-mail summercampport@gmail.com for more information or for an application form. Please note this camp is not affiliated with Scoil Phádraig, but is ran by teachers at the school.

TRACTOR RUN

The Fisherstown Tractor and Truck Run will take place on Sunday July 2. All proceeds will go to the Laois Hospice.

SYMPATHY

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Rita McMahon (nee Fogarty), Portarlington & late of Ballyfermot Dublin who passed away on Wednesday May 17. Rita was predeceased by her husband Frederick. She will be sadly missed by her sons Martin, Frederick & John, daughters Rita, Susan, Eileen & Bernadette, sister Eileen, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, neighbours & friends. Funeral took place in Dublin on Friday May 19. May Rita’s gentle soul rest in Peace.

SYMPATHY

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Caleb Powell, Ballybrittas & formerly Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, who passed away on Monday May 22. Caleb was predeceased by his beloved son Stephen. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Storm, sons Bobby, Andrew & Simon, daughters Barbara & Anna, his grandchildren Ellie, Polly, Jemima, Willa, Stevie & Holly, brothers Robert & David, sisters Mary & Carol, extended family & friends. Funeral Mass on Thursday May 25 at 12pm at St John’s Church Killenard, with burial after in the adjoining Cemetery. May Caleb rest in Peace.

The AGM of the Portarlington R.F.C will take place in the Clubhouse, Lea road on Tuesday

 May 30 @ 8pm.

PORT GAA NEWS

LOTTO-Laois Clubs combined Lotto draw takes place as usual, every Tuesday night. Next week’s Jackpot is €5,800. Tickets can be bought from club members or online via www.play.clubforce.com

Bingo at Port GAA Centre every Tuesday night at 8pm. Over €3,000 in prize money to be won. Free parking and wheelchair accessible.

 DINNER DANCE

Portarlington Dinner Dance 2023 takes place at the Heritage Hotel Killenard on Sunday June 4. Doors open at 6.30pm for dinner. Tickets €45 and can be purchased from any Committee member. 

GRACEFIELD LOTTO–Lotto results for May 22. Numbers drawn were 1-12-22-16. No winner of Jackpot.  €50 each to Margaret Maria Walsh, Patrick Oakley, Eamonn Whelan, Charlie Evans & Carmel Weldon. Promoter’s prize-The Hawthorn. Next week’s Jackpot-€4,000.
