FIGHT FOR JOHNNY’S GIRLS

Recently the Fight for Johnny’s Girls came to a conclusion & with the help of everyone out there this was an amazing fundraiser. From all the people who organised the campaign to all who donated so generously.  Johnny’s beautiful wife Sherie read a beautiful message from Johnny to thank everyone who made all his wishes come true for his little family. They are now in their new home with their beautiful little girls. We wish this amazing family all the best for the future.

SOCIAL DANCING

Check out Social Dancing each month at St Brigid’s Social Club Cloneyhurke. April 15-dancing to Glen Flynn. Dancing Classes every Monday night in the hall from 7.45pm to 9.15pm.

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Gerry Cahill, Geashill & formerly Portarlington who passed away on March 10. Gerry was predeceased by his parents Aggie & Ted. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Martina, daughter Catriona, sons Trevor, Graham, Keith & Dean. May Gerry rest in Peace. Funeral took place on Monday March 13.

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Mary McConn (nee Hanley), 71, St Brigid’s square Portarlington & late of Rathangan passed away on Saturday March 11. Beloved wife of the late James. Sadly missed by her loving children James, Brian, Cora, Daniel, Eamon & Niall, brothers Sonny and Michael, sister Theresa, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. Funeral took place on Wednesday 15. May Mary’s gentle soul rest In Peace.

Funeral took place on Wednesday March 16.

NATIONAL JUVENILE STAR AWARD

Congratulations to Cillín Hoey Droughill, Portarlington, and Emo/Rath Ac who was presented with his 2022 national Juvenile star award by Athletics Ireland on Saturday March 4 in Athlone. Cillín was selected as the Juvenile Athlete of the year for Laois for his exceptional achievements in 2022. Where he won 4 National titles, a bronze national medal and numerous Leinster titles. These achievements would not be possible without his coach Daithi Keenan and the support from his family. Cillìn is a 1st year student at Colaiste Iosagain Portarlington. 

On Sunday March 5, 13 year old Cillin got his indoor season off to a great start with a Gold medal win in the U15 boys 60m sprint hurdles. Wishing Cillín all the best for 2023.

SOCIAL TENNIS

 Social tennis has started & will continue every Thursday from 7.30pm at the Portarlington Lawn Tennis Club . Dust off the rackets & get fit again. New members & all levels welcome. €2 per player. Ample parking at Dr Whites.
