WELLBEING DAY

We have a FREE wellbeing day at the Portarlington Community Centre for Men and Women, coming up on March 10, from 10am to 1pm. Over the course of 3 hours, participants will take part in lots of dancing, strength, conditioning and yoga, followed by some light refreshments.

DINNER DANCE

St Conleth’s ladies football club are holding their Dinner Dance in the Killeshin Hotel Portlaoise on Saturday March 11th. Tickets available at Burbage’s supermarket Main St and at the Portarlington Credit Union (ask for Christina). A great night assured.

EXPO EVENT

 Joint expo event takes place on April 13 between 4pm and 8pm. Hosted by Healthy Laois and Age Friendly Laois in Portlaoise College, Mountrath road. For more information contact tcurran@laoiscoco.ie & eoconnor@laoiscoco.ie.  All interested  should  pre register their attendance if possible. If any of you have issues around transport, can you please let us know, in order that we can investigate options.

VOLUNTEERS

New Year, new opportunity to get involved. Are you a parent or grandparent with a few hours free each week? If so, please consider offering friendly support to young parents with Parents First. LOURDES PILGRIMAGE

DANCING

Kids Ballroom & Latin Dance classes are held every Tuesday at 6pm at the Portarlington Community Centre. Learn how to waltz, cha cha, jive and much more!! To book your place call Lisa on 085 7416886..

ANGLING CLUB

New members are always welcome at Portarlington Angling Club. Derryounce Lakes is a Fly only stocked trout fishery, open all year round. Visitors cannot fish the lakes without a permit. Permits and Angling club membership can be purchased from Portarlington Auto Parts on Main Street or Finlay’s pub Bracklone St. You can also send the Angling club a message via their Facebook page.

GROW

Meet every Thursday from 2.15pm-4pm at the Portarlington Social Services, Link Road.

SOCIAL TENNIS

 Social tennis has started & will continue every Thursday from 7.30pm at the Portarlington Lawn Tennis Club . Dust off the rackets & get fit again. New members & all levels welcome. €2 per player. Ample parking at Dr Whites.

O’DEMPSEY’S GFC

Golf Classic 2023-After the enjoyment of last year’s outing, we’re happy to announce our Golf ‘Classic’ is happening once again at the Heritage Golf Resort on Good Friday, April 7. Fuel Your Body for Sport Talk/Demo-A 2-hour talk and practical demo on fueling your body for sport, with a focus on Protein, Macros and knowledge on reading labels among the topics covered takes place at the O’Dempsey’s Clubhouse on Friday March 10 at 7.30pm. This is a free event and open to the community. U18s to be accompanied by a guardian. 

PORT GAA NEWS

LOTTO-Laois Clubs combined Lotto draw takes place as usual, every Tuesday night. Next week’s Jackpot is €6,400. Tickets can be bought from club members or online via www.play.clubforce.com

BINGO

Bingo at Port GAA Centre every Tuesday night at 8pm. Over €3,000 in prize money to be won. Free parking and wheelchair accessible. 

GRACEFIELD GAA
