WELL DONE PORT

Operation Transformation rolled into Port recently to record for their program which was televised on Wednesday February 8. The Star of the ad break challenge was Terry Lawlor who is known far and wide for his dedication to the town of Port & to Port & Laois GAA. 

Well done to Terry & to all who came out on the night to support him. Proud night for the Town. 

LIONS CLUB APPEAL

Do some good with your unwanted Christmas gifts by regifting them to Portarlington Lions Club. Hand lotions, aftershaves, scarves, gloves, slippers, sweets, puzzles or small toys are only an example.

Your donated unused and unopened gifts will be used in hampers we’ll raffle over the coming months to raise much needed funds to use helping others. Portarlington Lions Club receives NO funds from anyone, only what we collect in our town, and 100% of funds raised goes back into our community! The collection point for new unused gifts is in Whelan’s Electrical Main St, and your generosity will be greatly appreciated!

TRACTOR RUN

Portarlington Lions Club Tractor Run supporting our Community takes place on Sunday March 5. Registration from 10.30am at the Railway Station car-park for 12 noon departure. Complimentary refreshments and Auction immediately afterwards in the Railway Bar.  Prizes for Best Modern Tractor and Best pre-1980’s Tractor. Contact : Gerry @ 086 3584611 or Brendan @ 086 4415219. Portarlington Social Services senior citizens Bingo has returned every Wednesday at 8.30pm in the Social Services centre, Link Road. Come along for a few games of bingo and a cuppa & a chat.

Deepest Sympathy to the family of George Larke, Killenure, Ballybrittas who passed away on Monday January 30. George was predeceased by his brother Gilbert & sister Rev. Shirley Kingston. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Sylvia, sons George & Aidan, daughters Elaine & Velma, his 10 grandchildren, extended family, neighbours & friends. Funeral took place on Thursday February 2. May George rest in Peace.

Liam was predeceased by his parents William & Catherine, sisters Anne & Bridie & granddaughter Tara. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Ann, son Declan, daughters Karen, Anita, Breda, Elaine, Siobhan & Sandra, his 13 grandchildren & 3 great-grandchildren, extended family, neighbours & friends. Funeral took place on Friday February 3. May Liam rest in Peace.

LOTTO-Laois Clubs combined Lotto draw takes place as usual, every Tuesday night. Next week’s Jackpot is €5,600. Tickets can be bought from club members or online via www.play.clubforce.com
