Portarlington Social Services senior citizens Bingo  returned last Wednesday February 1 at 8.30pm in the Social Services centre, Link Road. Come along for a few games of bingo and a cuppa & a chat.

Meet every Thursday from 2.15pm-4pm at the Portarlington Social Services, Link Road.

TRACTOR RUN

Portarlington Lions Club Tractor Run supporting our Community on Sunday March 5. Registration from 10.30am at the Railway Station car-park for 12 noon departure. LIONS CLUB APPEAL-Do some good with your unwanted Christmas gifts by regifting them to Portarlington Lions Club. Hand lotions, aftershaves, scarves, gloves, slippers, sweets, puzzles or small toys are only an example.

Your donated unused and unopened gifts will be used in hampers we’ll raffle over the coming months to raise much needed funds to use helping others. Portarlington Lions Club receives NO funds from anyone, only what we collect in our town, and 100% of funds raised goes back into our community! The collection point for new unused gifts is in Whelan’s Electrical Main St, and your generosity will be greatly appreciated!

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Jim Keogh, Assumpta Tce who passed away on Thursday January 26. Jim was predeceased by his loving wife Annie, brother John & nephew Trevor. He will be sadly missed by his sister Chrissie (Knight), brothers Charles, Kevin, Chris & Pat, extended family, neighbours & friends. Funeral took place on Sunday January 29. May Jim rest in Peace.

Philip was predeceased by his parents Johnny & Betty Ward, Bracklone St. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Madeleine, family Jason, Katie, PJ & Seany,  brother PJ & his wife Jude, sister Ann (Dunne) & her husband Brendan, niece Amy, nephews Jonathan & Stephan, extended family, neighbours & friends. Funeral took place on Thursday February 2. May Chilly rest in Peace.

Another sad day for the residents of St Brigids Sq as they lose another lifetime resident. Deepest Sympathy to the family of Raymond (Mouse) Leavy who passed away on Tuesday January 31. Raymond was predeceased by his beloved father Jackie in 2022. He will be sadly missed by his devoted wife Anita, son Jamie, daughter Ciara, daughter in law Caoimhe, Ciaras fiance Eoghan, his beloved granddaughters Lily Mae and Fiadh Rose, his mother Maura, sister Rosaleen, brothers John & Donal, parents in law John & Helen, extended family, neighbours & friends. Funeral took place on Friday February 3. May Raymond’s gentle soul rest in Peace.

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Donald (Donie) Hanlon, Gracefield, Portarlington, who passed away on Tuesday January 31 surrounded by his loving family at the Regional Hospital Tullamore. Donie will be sadly missed by his loving wife Celine, daughter Anne, grandsons Donal and Gearóid, son-in-law Kevin, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends. Funeral took place on Saturday February 4. May Donie rest in Peace.

LOTTO-Laois Clubs combined Lotto draw takes place as usual, every Tuesday night. Next week’s Jackpot is €5,600. Tickets can be bought from club members or online via www.play.clubforce.com

GRACEFIELD GAA

Lotto results for January 30. Numbers drawn were 23-5-28-8. No Jackpot winner. €50 each to Pat Burbage, Tom Coleman, Nicola O’Connor, PJ Geraghty & Lucy Grattan. Promoters prize-Breda Flanagan. Next week’s Jackpot-€5,200. 

HEALTHY CLUB-The next instalment of our Healthy Clubs Initiative, will be our Mental Health workshops in association with Jigsaw. Jigsaw – age 12-16 – February 9. CFR Training – February 11. Jigsaw – age 16-25 – February 16. These three events are free and everyone is welcome.
