HOST FAMILIES
Host families wanted for a group of Danish students coming to Portarlington from Saturday April 30 to Friday May 6. The students will be doing work experience on the Main street for three days so hosts needed within walking distance or who are prepared to drive them in and out. Well done to everyone in the Portarlington Credit Union who climbed the Ridge of Cappard in support of “Climb with Charlie” on Saturday April 9

SYMPATHY
The family of the late Dermot & Robert Lyons (known affectionately as Dermy & Dinny, late of St Patrick’s Tce, Portarlington would like to invite family & friends to celebrate their lives on Sunday April 24th at 12.15pm Mass at St Michael’s Church, with burial of their ashes with their parents Dinny & Polly & brother Dinny at St Michael’s Cemetery, with drinks & song at the Anvil Inn after.
Dermot (as his sister Tanya called him, Mr Sociable), emigrated to Australia in 1985, where he went into the roofing business & became a successful businessman, until his death in 2016. He had 2 sons Kieran & Evan.
Robert lived for some time in Australia, Holland & Germany before settling in England until his death in April 2021. Tanya said of Robert, “Rob was a funny guy, when he relaxed”. Rest in peace Dermy & Robbie.

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Ciaran O’Donnell, Lea road Portarlington who passed away on Tuesday April 12 surrounded by his loving family. Ciaran was a former teacher at St John’s Vocational School Portarlington. He was predeceased by his loving wife Mary (nee Duggan) & his brother Dermot. Ciaran will be sadly missed by his daughter Deirdre, sons Niall, Eoin, Ciaran & Fintan, brothers Rory, Hugh & Aidan, sister Deirdre, his beloved grandchildren, extended family & Friends. Funeral Mass took place on Saturday April 16 at St John’s Church Killenard, with burial after in the adjoining Cemetery. May Ciaran’s gentle soul rest in Peace.
