AGM

Portarlington Angling Club AGM will be held on this Wednesday February 23 in the Portarlington Community Centre at 8pm. This is a very important meeting as a new committee must be formed. All members are requested to attend. New members are more than welcome.

COLAISTE IOSAGAIN

Colaiste Iosagain will hold a School Mass for the late Ms. Emily Seery on Thursday March 3 at 2.30pm in St. Michael’s Church, Portarlington. The school wishes to extend an invite to any past pupils who might wish to attend. Please email chooban@colaisteiosagainport.ie.

MEALS ON WHEELS

Portarlington Meals on Wheels would like to thank Portarlington Credit Union for their generous donation of €3,000 to their service. The CU have been very generous to us over the years, as they have been to many organisations in the town.

The Happy Hearts Active Retirement club will reopen on this Thursday February 24 in the Portarlington Community Centre from 2-4pm. All active people over 55 welcome.

1st week back will be the usual meet and greet, including any new members who wish to join. 1st week back includes Bingo.

GARDA WARNING

An Garda Siochana urges everybody to stay safe while out walking and running. Hi-Viz type clothing should always be worn, both during the day and especially after the hours of darkness. If possible, people should exercise in at least groups of two or more.

Portarlington Community Development Association (PCDA) are hoping to raise €50,000 for the general maintenance of the Derryounce Lakes, Trails and Parklands 2022 and every donation will help fund the daily upkeep of this natural treasure in the heart of the Midlands, Ireland. SYMPATHY

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Maura Hynes (nee Lawlor), Cushina who passed away on Thursday February 10. Maura was predeceased by her husband Gus. She will be sadly missed by her daughters Valerie & Linda, sons Fergus, Dermot & Kieran, brother Des, grandchildren, extended family, neighbours & friends. Funeral Mass for Maura took place on Sunday February 13 at St Michael’s Church Portarlington, with burial after in St Michael’s Cemetery. May Maura’s gentle soul rest in Peace.

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Tommy Horan, Essex England & formerly Bracklone St/Marian Hill who passed away on Thursday February 10. Tommy was predeceased by his wife Eileen (nee Quinn) formerly Athy & his late son Paul. Tommy will be sadly missed by his son John, brother Sean Horan, Marian Hill, nieces, nephews, extended family & friends. Burial will take place in Brentwood, England. May Tommy rest in Peace.

Laois Clubs combined Lotto draw takes place as usual, every Thursday night. This week’s jackpot is €5,600. Tickets can be bought from club members or online via www.play.clubforce.com.
